The traveling itineraries on display in this exhibit were planned out and made by the students through group discussions with the help of classroom guidance. The purpose of this project is to help students to develop the necessary skills required when traveling overseas by themselves. By completing this project, students were able to use what they have learned in the classroom in their daily lives, practice looking for required information on English websites as well as learn how to work together in groups. |

Ecology in Our Lives (109-1) |
The central project of my English classes was to plan and build a herb spiral together. A herb spiral is a raised circular garden bed with spiraled walls that creates a wide range of microclimates, which enables many herbs with differing preferences to live together in a relatively small space. |

Practical Environmental Applications (109-2) |
In the form of a booklet, students from small groups presented a number of aspects surrounding herb spirals. For example, the students showed the steps it takes to build such a structure; they listed the many advantages this design provides; and they introduced a plant you can grow on a herb spiral, often in connection with an illustrated recipe. |

These artworks represent students’ awareness of the environmental threats we’re facing today. They not only demonstrate students’creativity, but also the depth of their philosophical thinking after taking the course “English (II): Learn English with Natural Science.” More importantly, as their ecological consciousness has begun to grow, we can see students’ ability to have a dialogue in English with the world they’re living in starting to show. |

In the near future, with human population shrinking and robotic technology advancing, the world may be populated more by robots than by humans. Manpower will become a scarce resource. Robots will come to be mankind’s valuable helpers and dependable carers. We have come up with several models that will be suitable to take care of the older generation’s physical needs, as well as give them emotional support and company. |

The posters were made in accordance with the awareness the students nurtured in this class. By means of the training, they were equipped with the skills a modern citizen needs. |

When someone decides to join a tour, what does he or she care about? How to present itineraries to attract the customers' attention? By the end of this semester, we worked on travel brochures to get to know more about the characteristics of each tourist spot and the details of planning a trip. |

World Culture (109-1) |
In the course “World Culture English”, students learned about diverse cultures of people from different countries. For the exhibition, students made booklets about various international issues regarding the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Students could choose multiple topics they were interested in such as food, energy, tourism, environment, health, etc., give an overview and discuss their importance. |

Song Appreciation (109-2) |
Students learned about diverse genres of English songs from different periods and countries during the semester. In an internationalized society, English songs are useful to gain knowledge of vocabulary in the lyrics, lend themselves to the grammatical analysis of sentence structures, and help to develop practical conversational skills. In this section, students had the opportunity to create storybooks that present the images and ideas of the songs in their minds. |

Introduction to Airport and In-flight Service (109-1,109-2)

Students performed what they learned in the class and put to immediate use in real-world situations. The scenario in each student’s video illustrates an individual case, regarding security gates, luggage compartments, food service and so on. Through the video performance, students also learned to build a positive attitude towards correct English pronunciation. Students were given the opportunity to bridge the gap between language study and language use. |

The project has focused on hostelry and cuisine, both from a global and local perspective. Students designed their ideal hotels. Having researched various types of cuisine in Taiwan, students were then able to write local culinary reports. In order to apply English in their daily life, students created a multitude of works such as calendars , magazines and menus! |

Reading the World (109-1) Traveling in Cities (109-2) |
Based on the concepts of the 11th goal among the SDGs, I have asked students in my classes to create their own works inspired by critically acclaimed Taiwanese architect Huang Sheng-Yuan (黃聲遠), who, by creating Fieldoffice Architects, has dedicated his life to the creation of green and sustainable architecture in Yilan County. His architectural concepts not only seek to create an environmentally friendly living space but also transform the relationship between human beings and physical environments, both natural and cultural. His architectural works put emphasis on freedom, serenity, openness, transparency, connection, adaptability, and inclusion. Inspired by local landscapes, traditions, and cultures in Yilan, the architecture of Huang Sheng-Yuan has long been well received by the public and critics both at home and abroad, including the prestigious La Biennale di Venezia. In the age of globalization, the architecture of Huang Sheng-Yuan brings the local air and light of Taiwan to the world stage by employing modern building materials and designs to meet and satisfy the human needs and natural conditions of his native land. |
