(Purpose and Objectives)

This workshop was divided into two major themes: Practical Regenerative Living and Circular Economy Collage. Together, these sessions aimed to promote sustainable habits, ecological awareness, and experience about regenerative systems. The workshop was held in English - thus providing plenty of opportunities to the students to express themselves in that language and practice specialized vocabulary.

1.1 Practical Regenerative Living

The goals of the practical regenerative living sessions were:
Understanding Composting Principles:

  • Getting introduced to the principles of composting, students learned what compost is, how organic waste decomposes, and how composting reduces landfill pollution. The session highlighted what materials can and cannot be composted, and explained how compost enriches soil with nutrients and improves moisture retention.

Building a Keyhole (Raised) Garden:

  • The workshop introduced the concept of a keyhole garden, designed for efficient water use, nutrient cycling, and accessibility. Students explored the holistic method of layering compost, soil, and organic materials to create a productive micro-ecosystem.This demonstrate how to create a keyhole garden (raised garden), emphasizing holistic and regenerative approaches to growing healthy food.

Introduction to Kombucha:

  • Participants discovered how natural fermentation transforms fruits and herbs into healthy enzyme drinks, teas, and probiotics. They learned the role of beneficial microorganisms, how fermentation enhances nutrition and digestion, how natural ingredients can be used to make low-cost, sustainable beverages.

1.2 Circular Economy Collage
The Circular Economy Collage is a 3-hour collaborative workshop that explores circular economy principles, rethinks resource use, and co-creates sustainable solutions. The objectives of this section were to:

Introduce Core Concepts of the Circular Economy:
Students examined how current systems extract resources, manufacture products, and generate waste, and how these processes harm ecosystems.

Visualize Systemic Impact:
Through card placement and group discussions, participants mapped key stages of the linear economy—resource extraction, production, distribution, consumption, and disposal.

 Explore Sustainable Solutions:
The activity transitioned into circular economy principles such as:

  • design for longevity,
  • repair and reuse models,
  • recycling loops,
  • redesigning systems to eliminate waste.

Encourage Critical Thinking:
Students collaborated to imagine practical, real-world solutions that shift society from a linear to a circular model. This fostered teamwork, innovation, and systems thinking.

The workshop blended theory, hands- on experience, and group discussions to help participants internalize sustainability concepts.

These activities encourage students how to grow healthy food, embrace a zero-waste lifestyle, and connect people in sharing regenerative and sustainable ideas.

2.1 Practical Regenerative Living Sessions

  • Students experienced composting by their own hands: they examined soil samples with and without compost, comparing texture, smell, and appearance. This helped them visually understand how compost restores soil vitality. Participants also experienced the whole process of building a keyhole garden.
  •  Students learned to make fermented drinks using fruits and enzymes, exploring both health benefits and flavor. Gained awareness of how fermentation supports good nutrition, boosts immunity, and promotes sustainable food practices.

This session helped students experience how regeneration can begin at home—through food, soil, and daily habits.

2.1 The Circular Economy Collage

The second session unfolded in two major chapters:

  • In the first chapter, the students came to understand the current economic system (called the linear system) by placing cards on a board. In the second chapter, they learned about the circular economy system, and thought of actions and solutions associated with it, to solve the problems of our current system. Teams brainstormed solutions such as: product repair centers, biodegradable packaging, community compost systems, regenerative farming techniques.

This session helped students in their understanding of global challenges and encouraged students to imagine themselves as agents of change.

Practical Regenerative Living
Brief Lecture on Composting: Introduced the fundamentals of composting — including its purpose, process, and environmental benefits. Discussed how organic waste transforms into nutrient-rich compost that improves soil health and supports sustainable agriculture. How organic waste breaks down through natural decomposition, the role of microorganisms in transforming waste into nutrient-rich compost, and how compost enhances soil structure, fertility, and moisture retention.

  • Hands-on Experience: Took students to the field for a practical session where they could observe and participate in the composting process. Allowed them to handle organic materials, mix compost into the soil, and witness firsthand how composting contributes to waste reduction and soil enrichment. In addition, students engaged in regenerative gardening activities:
    • Practically planted seeds in the keyhole garden, applying the principles of soil layering and nutrient cycling.
    • Learned about essential seed requirements, including sunlight, water, soil composition, spacing, and nutrition.
    • Understood how keyhole garden design supports efficient water use, natural fertilization, and long-term soil regeneration.

This experience helped students connect composting, gardening, and sustainability in a holistic, hands-on way.

Circular Economy Collage:
In the first chapter, the students learned about the current economic system (called the linear system) by placing cards on a board. In the second chapter, they learned about the circular economy system, and thought of actions and solutions associated with it, to solve the problems of our current system.

  1. Reading the cards to identify key stages and issues within today’s economic system.
  2. Reconsider the problems by discussing how linear production leads to waste, resource depletion, pollution, and unsustainable consumption patterns.
  3. Discuss the solutions: students collaboratively brainstromed solutions associated with circular economy principles. These included long-lasting production, reducing material waste, creating community recycling systems, recourage responsicle consumption, and supporting regenerative agriculture.

10.14

  • I'm really like Clémence, she such a friendly, kind, nice teacher. She guided us to match right answers , giving us a lot of time to read the paper words. I have been a long time not to speak and read English, this moment is a good opportunity to practice my speaking!

  • I'm completely gald joining Peter's workshop where l can learn plenty of plants 🪴 seeds and kombucha and so on. The new knowledges already fullfill my freshman first year.  I will encourage everyone who want to aquire multiple pace in your university life.
